Update of Dry Dock Control System

The Client: Major Shipbuilding Facility

THE CHALLENGE:

The facility’s dry dock controls were outdated and obsolete. The dry dock is used to launch completed ships back into a body of water. The obsolete controls included a series of variable frequency drives that controlled the motor on water pumps. The pumps filled and emptied certain ballast that raise and lower the dock facility in and out of the water.

LEC’S SOLUTION:

LEC designed a VFD refit. We removed all the obsolete VFD’s and install up-to-date GE VFD’s. LEC constructed the UL508 certified control panels and installed them. LEC’s engineering team commissioned the systems.
