THE CHALLENGE:
The client needed a wireless communications system to facilitate the process of installing the vehicle motors and transmissions.
LEC’S SOLUTION:
LEC designed and implemented a wireless communications system to facilitate the process of installing the vehicle motors and transmissions and to monitor its functions.
The motors and transmissions are loaded onto buggies that running on a floor ring-line. The buggies match speed and location with an overhead conveying system that contains the vehicle frame and body. The ring-line buggy controls required UPS battery backup because the ring line has certain areas that are not powered. LEC designed a control system that monitored functions on the buggy and transmitted these data points wireless back to the main PLC where this data was visualized on a HMI system. This data included the status of certain bump stops and the health of the buggy control system.
